Sophos has announced yesterday the purchase of Netherlands based security software company SurfRight for $31.8 million.  HitmanPro, which we have been a big fan of since it was released, has developed innovative and powerful technology that detects zero-day exploits, remediates advanced persistent threat (APT) vectors, does a great job removing malware, and protects your computer from file encrypting ransomware. This purchase allows Sophos to integrate this technology into their products in order to further strengthen their endpoint protection features.

According to the press release, SurfRight's existing employees will be retained and development will continue on all their products. Sophos will also immediately begin to work on integrating SurfRight's technology into their products and when finished will make it available via their network of over 15,000 partners.

At BleepingComputer we have gotten to know some of the developers and management at SurfRight and I can tell you that they are dedicated to innovative security technology and helping end users stay safe.  Congratulations on your acquisition by Sophos and we hope this only leads to even better products.
