If you dislike spiders, even fake ones like this, then don't click!

http://www.onemotion.com/flash/spider/

Poke and prod the spider with your mouse. Also, grab one of its legs with your mouse and drag it around the screen. Anywhere on the map hit the space bar and it leaves little bugs. Watch the spider go after them.

Very funny!

I used to keep a tarantula on my Govt Desk.

Kept the interlopers away for sure. Simple wire cage. "Tara-boom-boom" fed him self from the flies and other resident bugs.

I could take him out and handle him easily. Others in the office would take a walk at such times.
He was about 2 when I got him and lived about another 10 years?

You're welcome.

I've had a tarantula crawl on me a time or two. In the right environment they're really "tame".

If one looks at the information I provide on several sites - it's all the same.

65 miles due east of the logic free zone.....

//for those wondering... the logic free zone is Washington, D.C., as some of you all call it.

 For those of you with arachnophobia (fear of spiders), tarantulas are usually slow moving and their mouth parts are too small to inject enough venom into a person to make her sick.

Where I grew up, tarantulas were fairly common as pets, and some kids brought them to school. We thought wooly worms were far more disgusting, especially during squishy season, when they would overrun some sidewalks.

That is a great interactive toy! Since it's on a map, one could compare it to "creeping socialism" (as some of the members at BC would have it), or creeping any other "ism" you would like, then send an appropriate link to someone you discuss politics or the like with. Or the spider could be a hero, sweeping up questionable financial institutions.
