Why does Epson not support linux with drivers? Can CUPS completely support a all in one Epson printer functionality?

You probably need to ask Epson:

I concur. Epson provide a whole range of printer/scanner drivers for Linux.....but they do NOT link to them from the main website.

Ya gotta know where to look.....

Epson Download Center

Their Linux drivers were at one time written for them by a Japanese firm called Avasys. When Avasys went out of business, Epson took over maintenance themselves.....but if you ever ask Customer Support about Linux drivers, you usually get the response, "Sorry. We don't support Linux..."

Internal politics, I guess.

(*shrug...*)

(EDIT:- I missed Dan's link. That's new. They never used to have that page on the site before. Takes you to the page I linked to.....just with 'Linux' pre-selected. O-kayyy....)

It'll help!

Or maybe they assume that since you're using Linux that you can find things on your own using a search engine with a well formated query.

I realized that Epson is not the only printer manufacturer that does not provide full drivers for Linux Canon and HP also do not provide full drivers. However Brother does provide Linux drivers.

I was looking at the all in one latest printers and full drivers that allow a linux operating system to have complete control of all features scanning, faxing etc.

Give an example of an HP device that gives full drivers for a all in one printer for Linux?

I could only find for the latest drivers for Windows and Mac OS, but no Linux drivers.

Trolling !!!!

I think you need to read what you are posting. It clearly says at the bottom of HP web site for linux drivers, HP recommends another web site. Which means HP does not make drivers for Linux.

Okay. That's enough, compis. Yet another of your threads is just you looking for an argument.......and as always, it's not really contributing anything positive to the community.

Thread closed.
