Mxlinux which is based on Debian does not have fwupd which is a daemon that allows the operating system to get hardware driver information to better support the system.

https://lvfs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/intro.html

What is strange about this Ommision by mxlinux is that Debian supports Linux vendor firmware software since Debian 9 and Debian is now version 12. Why would mxlinux not support LVFS why would the daemon be removed ?

Ask the mx linux devs that question. No one here will know.

Why do you believe that you need to update your computer firmware? Do you have a System76? If not, you do not need to do a FirmWare UPDate.

Are you people reading the same post ?

The question is why would LVFS on MX-linux not support be supported since the operating system they run on is Debian. This means Mx-linux removed the LVFS driver function in Debian. As for Gre8 question If I need a driver. the answer is yes, and when I use Debian Distro it recognizes components that are not recognized any more by MX-linux.

That does not answer the question. The question is why would mxlinux remove LVFS ?

Also I do not think lvfs is an installable component it appears to be build into the O.S. But feel free to tell me how LVFS can be installed cryptodan ?

Install the fwupdmgr tool via github.

https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/wiki/Compilation

Again email the developers and creators if mx-linux to find out why, or are you just lazy and expect everyone to spoon feed you?

I am not installing anything!

The question in this post is about LVFS. Mx-linux offers AHS- advance hardware support version of mxlinux and I do not understand how they can support newer hardware without a mechanism like LVFS which is inherent in Debian.

You can install it if you so wish so you tailor your mxlinux to your liking and maybe if you were less rude and overly demanding you'd get the answers to your question.

To your liking!

Explain a user that does not want the operating system to examine there system for the correct drivers for hardware?

If you where to install it how would you proceed ?

If it is so easy to install this component why did MXlinux remove it from the debian OS in which they base there operating system ?

Again ask them if you can remain civil and less trollish.

This is a forum!! if you can' t answer the question I suggest if you do not answer my post.

Why would mxlinux remove LVFS, which is built into Debian and mxlinux is based on Debian, if LVFS is a very helpful function ?
