Some time next year MS is merging multiple apps into a new Outlook app. I want to use Calendar but not Mail or other features. But MS doesn't allow me to export data from the Windows 10 Calendar app, and never will. If I have to re-enter information into some other program or app, I want it to be one where I can back up the data to some other place like to one of my external drives. I can't, for instance, use Task Scheduler because the intervals of some of the events are odd, like one is every two days, another every four days. What can I use instead?

I use Time & Chaos as my calendar.  I use version 10, but there is a free version (sometimes I just buy the paid versions of programs when the free versions would suit me just fine).

I too am interested in the answer and related answers.  Windows 10 makes Calendar "app" readily available to the user.  At least on any one computer.  There is also Google Calendar "app" as part of GMail if you sign in to GMail or Google account (on a computer) and is also available as a Calendar app on android smartphones.  Other email services also include Calendar function, but I myself have less experience with them.

I have NO answer for importing your Windows Calendar information into other Calendar programs.

No idea on importing for calendar.     Give Rainlendar  https://www.rainlendar.net/  a free and a paid version as well there is a lite version, I have used it now for maybe 20yrs now.

Use for appointments, months ahead, alerts, to do list.   All sorts of cool stuff packed into it.

That is great information about what is described as a great application.  The main site also shows a F.A.Q.s with some very good facts there.  The other link goes to a  page about the "lite" on Major Geeks site.  Also a little of interesting information there.

I looked for video presentations about rainlendar on YouTube, and there are some old ones but I also found another video showing several other calendar applications, too.

Instead of putting the link here, I will give just this information so readers can find it and no link here to slow-down B.C. forum page loading:

the channel name:  How to Make Tech Work from TechRepublic

the video title: How to find and use simple desktop calendar apps

the part of the hyperlink address after the slash is this code:  watch?v=5wru-mxyH00

As a calendar (I have used this for years) a free and a Pro Version : https://www.rainlendar.net/

(for me having it front and center on the Desktop with dates marked with choice of Icon and can set alarms as well as backup works for me) Not intrusive.

You might want to check out some third-party calendar apps like Google Calendar, which allows data export and backup options. Plus, it's user-friendly and has a variety of features.
Alternatively, if you want something more customizable, you can explore apps like Thunderbird Lightning or even Microsoft's own Outlook (if you're okay with the integration). They offer more control over your calendar data.

I have been trying the calendar feature IN Thunderbird, and it seems good, but not great.  At least it is well applicable on a desktop or laptop Windows computer.  One trouble I find is that Task does not work but that Event does work.  Also finding no way to set multiple reminders for the same Event.

You can try these apps like Google Calendar, Rainlendar and Microsoft To-Do. These are the most popular windows 10 calendar app alternatives.

The Topic Starter has not been back since September.

Also, for anyone reading this thread, Rainlendar is now proprietary shareware. It is free to try, but
one must pay for continued usage.

I stopped in to recheck.  I made a comment a few days ago about Thunderbird being helpful.  I am able to use Events, but not Tasks.
