Hello,

Im a newbie/rookie when it comes to malware/virus and risk of getting it on your device.

Today I visited a scam/fake instagram account. I did'nt click any like or anything like that. I just visited the profile on the instagram app.

Is it possible to get malware from just visiting a instagram profile?

If the profile you visited was on official instagram website, then no.

As long as the app is from instagram and not some fake app then no.

it's highly unlikely instagram would allow creating profiles with malicious data on them

perhaps if one could post a link to malicious site on their profile but I don't think you can.

There was a link in the persons bio. But I didn't click on that. I just visited the profile, so guess no harm was done?

If you clicked nothing then nothing could have happened.

just visiting their profile does not do any harm.

it's similar to when you download a virus to computer, downloading a virus won't do any harm, but once you run it, it's too late.

Thanks for reaching out. As a fellow newbie, I totally understand your concerns about malware and viruses. In general, just visiting an Instagram profile shouldn't expose your device to malware unless you click on any suspicious links or download anything.
