Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right forum or this question can even be answered on this website. I am hoping to find a command line mp3 editor for windows where I can run a program passing it the mp3 file name, the tag I want to update and the value I want to update it to.

I searched google and found TAGLIB but it seems you need to be a software engineer to figure it out. According to one page, I had to download something called QT, which presented me with a window asking for my business info in order to get a trial period. I only want this for personal use. In addition I had to download MAKE.

Does anyone know of a simple utility I can use to accomplish what I want to do?

I tried fileforum and searched for ID3edit and it doesn't seem to come up with anything. I then went to google and searched for ID3edit. I found https://id3edit.sourceforge.net/ which explains how to install ID3edit and looks to me like they are talking about Linux because they refer to the root ID and the /usr/local/bin folder which are all Linux/Unix terms. I also found https://github.com/rstemmer/id3edit which lists a bunch of files with no instructions on how to install. Again by the screenshots they are showing it looks like Linux. I have a Linux laptop at home but unfortunately I am away out of town for an extended period of time.

What do I want? In my post I stated the following;

I am hoping to find a command line mp3 editor for windows where I can run a program passing it the mp3 file name, the tag I want to update and the value I want to update it to. So lets take an example. I can download a program called chgtag and it accepts a flag called /SET. I could then open a command window, navigate to the directory where my mp3 is, and type chgtag /SET ArtistName "The Rolling Stones" [filename]
