I'm looking for a solution to move thousands of files and folders from SharePoint Online to Azure Files. We have apps to automate some data flows that can read and write to Azure Files but not SharePoint Online. This will remove the Karen level user that keeps blaming the "internets" for her dropping things in the wrong folders.

Check the automated migration tools:

  1. Azure Data Factory (ADF): This cloud-based data integration service allows you to create data pipelines for moving data between various sources, including SharePoint Online and Azure Files. It supports scheduling and incremental transfers, making it ideal for large-scale migrations. While requiring some technical knowledge, ADF offers a powerful and scalable solution.

  2. Third-party migration tools: Several third-party tools specialize in migrating data between cloud platforms. These tools often offer user-friendly interfaces and pre-built connectors for SharePoint Online and Azure Files. Research options like Gs Richcopy 360 , ShareGate , Mover.io or CloudFuze .

For the "Karen" Situation: By moving data to Azure Files and integrating it with your applications, you'll eliminate user interaction with SharePoint Online's folder structure. This effectively removes the issue of users placing files in incorrect locations.
