Ugh.
And now, I just sent a PM to someone, and it seems to have disappeared. That being said, I don't see a separate "Sent items" folder anywhere. Is there supposed to be one?
So now I have no idea whether that user received the PM. Suggestions?

No, I'm looking at "My Conversations". And it doesn't show a recent PM I sent to someone. I will ask him if he received that PM, but he's kind of swamped at the moment helping others.
