Hi,

I have seen mixed posts on whether the malware removal course has been discontinued or not and I would like to find out what the status is.

I am very keen to learn malware removal and would like to ask staff to confirm if it is still available to apply for?

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you!

I know it has been discontinued, I don't know why.

I am pretty sure more people would, I hope some of the moderators and/or instructors can give more details.

Hi, @PositiveAssist:

Yes, the malware training program has closed.

I cannot speak directly for @Grinler, @Elise and the esteemed instructors & graduates.

But see this pinned post:

And specifically this reply:

Thanks MM,

It is a real shame as I am so keen to learn this.

Looked at other sites and it seems no one is offering this anymore.

Sad :-(

For the majority of home users such as seen in this forum, malware removal isn't as big concern as it was say for example 20 years ago. Or even 10 years ago.

As for industry and business it is still an issue.

User security awareness is very good or has at least improved over the years, that leaky and malware collecting Internet Explorer isn't the default browser anymore, web site coding has improved including security aspects, and the Windows operating system has become more secure.

A Windows operating system that can now reinstall itself that wipes out the old system and then starts a user with a new install has become often the 'goto' method for some home users.

Reading and studying everything you can are the first steps in learning.

Malware Analysis & Forensics Resources:

Up close and personal with Linux malware

Compared to Windows malware, Linux malware tends to be less obfuscated and easier to analyze. Obfuscation is often added to evade detection by security products. Since there are often no security products to bypass, the bar is lower and attackers skip this unnecessary step.
