Today I came across two accounts which had been abused by spammers, the actual account holders appear to have been inactive for between 4 and 8 years. It is likely that these account passwords were found in a leak of credentials from another site and the passwords were being used more than once.

Many of us are guilty of using the same password for more than one site but this is a BAD HABIT !  You should use a password for only one site/account and a different one for each of your other accounts and it is recommended that you use strong passwords for all accounts. I know this creates problems of remembering these passwords but there are solutions for that. You can use a password manager - which is highly recommended - or keep them on a memory stick which is kept separate from your computer when not using it. As a solution this is perhaps better suited to those of us who use desktops.

Should you wish to change your password on BC then first go to your profile - click on your username, in the top right hand corner of the page, and select 'My Profile' from the drop down menu. Then click on 'Edit my profile'.

This brings you to the 'Settings' page, in the left hand column select 'Email and password' and on that page you will find the common form to change a password - type your existing password in the first box and then you new one in each of the 2nd and 3rd boxes. Finally click on 'Save changes' and that's it.

Isn't it possible to check which passwords are "weak" or which user emails have been found in data leaks and force those users to change their password.
