Hi,

I have just been challenged with finding a way to edit an .mp4 file that list the prices for food items for a prominent restaurant.

This mp4 price list must have been displayed on a loop on their restaurant monitors. The owner doesn't remember who made this mp4 for them.

So, I am looking for a program for restaurants that would allow for editing prices as they change over time. And allow for making a display for that particular restaurant.

There must be something out there for this? Does anyone have any ideas?

I personally never paid attention to how this is done in a fast food restaurant. I never thought of it being an mp4 file? I did play it, and I see it is the dynamics of the motion in it that they use for attention to the menu. Meaning I can see why they want to continue using it. However, the prices needed to be edited occasionally as prices of food change.

So, again, any ideas. I would love to find out all about this.

Thanks,

John

There are MANY, MANY video-editing programs, both free and paid.
(I use Adobe Premiere Pro.)

There are likely many options to do what you want.
It's hard to make a specific recommendation without knowing your system specs, your budget, your video-editing skills, etc.

Have you tried a basic internet search for "best video-editing software for Windows PC"?

Respectfully submitted

Hi, your best bet since no idea (as well we have no idea) is to take this to the Adobe Forum,

A possibility : https://www.adobe.com/express/feature/video/editor/mp4 says free to use but would think file has a watermark until pay for a 1/4 yr or what ever their charging these days.

But try their forum if the editor above does not work out.   Do NOTICE  the TOS (Terms of Service) as you can loose the rights to the file if do not read.)

EDIT : On other on-line services.

Edit there to their

An easy approach that comes to mind (and will hopefully work):

Create a PowerPoint (or similar) presentation that mimics all the branding/imaging that is shown in the MP4.

Set the slide timing to automatically advance as desired.

You can then export the presentation as a new MP4.

In the future, when the menu needs an update, simply edit the PowerPoint document and export a new MP4.

Great idea, @ctigga!

That ought to work & would be much simpler than video editing...

And I wonder if the mp4 file format is even necessary???

If it's just a "kiosk" or similar flat panel video display, a looping PPT slide show with automatic timing should suffice?
(This is used in many enterprise & health care environments, both for info kiosks and as workstation "screensavers".)

No idea on Power Point ... lol  Have avoided it since invented.   But yes that does sound like a good idea @ctigga  if it works out as it is a powerful program (and avoidable   )

As we do not know what the MP4 actually looks like and plays like we are still only guessing though.

Editing an mpg4 file constantly as prices change would be drudgery at its worst and inefficient at its best.

All you need is a slide show which is easily edited as prices/menu change. Power point is fine for that and easy to use. There are other slideshow programs out there that may work also, some free.
