MS 365 paid - comes with OneDrive storage, if you're into that.

Free MS 365 on the web:

Alternatives:

Standalone MS Office 2019 or 2021 licenses are occasionally still available from online vendors, such as StackSocial. Research & shop carefully to avoid being scammed.
Note: Support for these standalone versions will end in a few years, but that you will still be able to use them.

It all boils down to your budget, computing practices, need for interoperability, & features.

In that link listing the alternatives to Microsoft Office I would avoid WPS office and stick to either Libre Office or Free Office

Another vote for John's suggestion: I've been using Softmaker Free Office for years. It's a complete office suite, and you can save your project as MS Office Word or Excel format if you want. Works same as MS office.

[EDIT]: hover your mouse over the tiny German flag icon on the extreme right and translate to English.

I don't think any of them will crossover with MS Excel will they?  I like Libre the Best, but if you are doing Excel, get yourself a free copy of Office XP, 2003 or something similar and use/install the 2007 converter.

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.
