I was at my PC and attempted to download a "Free" eBook from Google Play.

Opening my phone I see a warning that Google is malware and poses a high risk!

Not touched any buttons yet as I suspect its malware.

Anyone know how to handle it?

There have been a number of reports of this. It's a false positive and it's being addressed.

@zep516 Thanks for your very quick response!

I'm truly grateful.

Having read your link, can I safely take the "Ignore" option, without fear of accepting a nasty payload!?

@Zep516 Clicked on "Ignore" and the notification disappeared but the "Optimiser " on my Huawei phone shows "60" never seen less than 97% before and tapping on " Fix" still says it wants to uninstall Google!!!

Not sure about that, I think some users have been uninstalling and reinstalling. I'll see what other details I can find if no one else posts here.

@zep516 Thanks, I have an MBAM Premium account and that is installed on my PC and Laptops but I didn't install it on my phone for fear of slowing it down or reducing battery life!

Asked them also ( being cheeky!) hope they can shed some light too.

Just an update, heard nothing from either Huawei or Google, but about an hour and a half ago, I noticed that the Huawei "Optimiser" had returned to a normal situation.
I guess someone has a red face and doesn't want a fuss😁

Thanks for that, the only warning I got was"Google is malware and poses a high risk"

Immediately notified Huawei and asked for their help, they feigned ignorance despite it affecting Huawei phones worldwide for the two days prior which just stokes up the anxiety.

Their UK Office asked me for screenshots, still pretending it was news to them.

Of course, I have yet to hear from Huawei UK!

Since then, my view of Huawei and their countrymen concurs with that of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 1986, a very shrewd man!

@garioch7 Just had a look at your Location Phil, wow what a great place to live!

I've watched a few YT videos by one of your compatriots and fellow RMCP Officer retd. "James Blackwood - Raccoon Whisperer" who has also retired to Nova Scotia

Heard tell that he was in poor health and not sure if he's recovered.

He seems to spend most of his income on the animals.

I don't know James Blackwood personally, and I never served with him.

I am very happy to be retired in Cape Breton.  Great people here and lovely scenery, particularly the Cabot Trail and Margaree Valley.  I initially moved to Port Hood when I retired in June 2008.  Personal circumstances forced me to sell there and purchase my current home in Port Hastings in December 2020, about 30 minutes away from Port Hood.

I have been in Cape Breton for over 15 years now.  Even so, I am considered "from away."  My father was born in Cape Breton, but I never lived here until I retired.

When I was a teenager, I lived in East Putney for nine months, so I have an appreciation for the British.  My heritage is Scottish.

Have a great day.

Regards,

Phil
