Every time I turn on my phone there is an avalanche of YouTube videos that come flooding in. How do I stop it?

Is my only recourse to disable YouTube entirely from my phone?

Possibly unsubscribe to what started this.     Or you need to have your phone checked for Mamlware/Pestware of some kind that you may have installed.

Other than that I have no ideas as not had a smart phone for long.  Just moved back to the city and no needed one ...lol.

Others I am sure will be around to help.

1) Unsubscribe (or disable notifications - that would have been the bell you clicked on YouTube videos) to any YouTube channels you may have subscribed to.  You're getting notifications when they add new content.

2) Under settings, there's a tab for notifications, or depending on the version it may be under the app entry in settings.  Disable the type of notifications, or all of them for the YouTube app (and any other apps that are annoying you).

3) Be careful what you subscribe to, how much you subscribe to, the apps you install, and which apps you allow to issue notifications.  If you aren't careful, you'll end up being bugged to death with incessant notifications for attention.

4) Do check to be sure all the apps you do have installed are legit.  It's easy to install malware from the Google Play Store.  Bad actors know how to artificially inflate download numbers on the store, so it's a poor metric for checking legitimacy.
