Check the running processes to see what is hogging all the memory.

Adding all the processes listed only adds up to about 680MB. I don't know if there are other processes not shown but from that list but if those are the only processes running I don't know why the chromebook is using close to 4GB of RAM.

I would copy any local data on the chromebook to a USB HDD or flash drive and do a hard reset using the power and refresh keys. You would of course need to reinstall any apps you installed.

Please tell me how to get the memory box i included!

The computer stopped connecting to the internet
Then crashed and restarted and now connects to the internet.
I have deleted some apps and now need to check the memory situation.
I suspect it did itself what you suggested!
Thanks

You did the hard reset using the power and refresh buttons? It sounds like you did not because you said you deleted some apps.

You can get to the memory test in the diagnostics section.

I suspect they have updated the version as well. so instructions found on the internet may be out of date

Version 125.0.6422.169 (Official Build) (64-bit)  probably it was google way of forcing me to update

I never ran that memory test on a chromebook. I'm wondering if this is a memory test and it shows the amount of RAM that is being used on the test. I will verify this and post back.

Okay, sorry for saying your Memory test did not seem normal. My Chromebook is showing relatively the same usage, .74GB of 3.79GB available. So it seems chromebooks are using all available RAM when running.

Regarding your Chromebook being slow, a hard reset may help with that.

I also found this video that gives some tips on RAM usage
