Mouse not working on Chromebook after latest update?

Hi!  The mouse on both my husbands and my Mothers Chromebooks stopped working yesterday - don't think that is just a coincidence!  I found that if I remove and reinsert the little USB thing that you plug into the port on the laptop, then it recognizes the mouse.  They are on version 120.0.6099.259.  My Chromebook is on version 120.0.6099.235 and is not having this problem.  Anyone else experiencing this?

120.0.6099.235 is the latest update on the stable channel which is what you should be using. On your husbands computer click Settings > About ChromeOS. On that page click Additional details. What channel is listed?

 

120.0.6099.235 is on my chromebook and when I check for updates says it's up to date.

John C - Husbands computer says it is on the stable channel and when I check for updates it says it is up to date with version 120.0.6099.259.

That is strange as I could find nothing on that version of ChromeOS. If you attach the dongle to a different port does it solve the problem? If not you may need to do a powerwash after backing up any local data on the chromebook.

 

Edit: I only found that the later version posted was for the Chromium browser.

Edit Edit: Before doing a powerwash I would report the issue to Google if posting your problem on their chromebook specific forum does not provide a solution.

I've heard of some HP chromebooks with Driver related problems from certain specific mousepads.

 

If i thought me remembering where exactly where i read this would help you find a remedy to your issues, i'd happily hunt it down.

But it's highly unikely to help much.

Best bet is to report it through the feedback form you can find throughout various places in the browser or settings of the chromebook (if u manage to identify which is which).

No, You're not alone. They have been experimenting with creating gestures with all mousepads.. Some devices emulating hardware acts really weird too, which of course on chromeos that would include Chromebooks.. Hyper sensitivity, auto scrolling, auto click and various other "features" are sometimes more noticable than not.. You might be able to test out some of the things with Gesture Controls and help alieviate some issues by turning off the option for autoclick.. Search about how to use gestures on your device, and you'll probably find what you want.

Which channel you're in has little bearing on whether you get to partake in experiments or not unfortunately... Apparently this was done to prevent people from biased behavior in avoiding certain channels by reputation... Makes sense.. i guess
