Hello guys

I tried to scan a large number of documents, but my HP ENVY 6432e takes a very long time to scan a single A4 sheet.

Now, I could use my old HP PSC 1215. The Printer works, but Windows Fax & Scan does not; a message says, ‘No scanners were DETECTED’.

I tried a number of options but nothing works .

Can anyone advice, please?.

Thank you

That's a pretty old printer/scanner you're trying to use. The HP support site only has driver downloads for Windows 2000 & XP and basically says to just plug 'n play on newer versions of Windows. I imagine this worked out for Windows versions up through Windows 7 but would be hit or miss on newer ones.

I would try it on another Windows 10 computer for a start and see if it fairs any better.

You said you've tried a number of options. Could you list those options so we don't suggest something you've already tried?

It is not the 1st printer : https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-envy-6400e-all-in-one-printer-series/model/2100187521?sku=223R3BR

problem lays with what ever computer system is attached to it.

Possibly too little ram, system and BIOS not updated I would think.

The above Printer is fairly modern (and should spit out at 10secs a page, though I use Toner not ink,)

What OS is that ?  LOL almost reminds me of Windows 1.0      The system looks really old and flogging a dead horse : :deadhorse:

So not sure why you would be uninstalling Drivers, as well as why you would be there re pics.

Would be turning on Drivers as per the URL.

If anything you would be in Task Manager and deleting drivers and rebooting and if not put back would put them back by the info in the URL re Programs and Features -->

Turn Windows Features on or off.

Installing the Drivers for the newer Computer from the URL provided.  As well I think it linked to HP Smart in the Microsoft Store and while there can get the Scan and Capture

No need to log into the store.

As no idea what OS this is have no idea about the above even working.

Please look at this site; this is what computer systems are : https://xoticpc.com/  (for info only , I make nothing from the url other than a happy camper as bought a customized laptop and had it shipped to Canada extra costs for me were duty and shipping)

So that being said is this XP ???  when Posting about anything please provide your system information.   Most of it can be found if copy paste System Information into Start Search and include the Bios Version and the make and exact model please.

If this is XP it is dangerous to use for you and your family and friends.

Think about moving on.  As well Windows 10 End of Life October 2025.

Probably not XP Pkshadow, judging by the background to one of the pictures, and the Print Management tool looks that awful even in Windows 10 - try it yourself if you need proof - though it's not the right place to try uninstalling and re-installing drivers AFAIK.

Jaq3 - if you are actually on Windows 10 - then try downloading the Microsoft Windows Scan App from tghe Microsoft Store, and see if that sees your old printer.

Otherwise it may be a case of finding the right TWAIN driver to keep the old Fax and Scan application happy.

Hi Geoffk,

Thank you.

I downloaded Windows Scan App as you suggested.

However, no joy, because, after carrying out the procedure, I received the following result >

'Scan.

To get started, connect a scanner'.

Unfortunately you may be out of luck as the only HP drivers for your HP PSC 1215 I can find a reference for has been removed by HP from their servers - see:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Archive-Read-Only/driver-psc-1215/td-p/5855563 - the link for the Windows 8.x and Windows 10 driver no longer works.

If you are feeling brave, you could try searching the web for the driver file mentioned: AIO_CDB_Net_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe

Hi,

Seems I may have found a useful printer source.

I have found ‘Gutenprint’ > SourceForge.net. > Gutenprint Printer Drivers.

Under Download >

All Other Users: > I select Complete Package "gutenprint-5.0.0.tar.bz2".

Having installed it, it instructs me to Look for an app in the Microsoft Store.

I am not sure which App is best to open the file.
