In my old apartment, I have a few monitors and a UPS.  I have to move them to another apartment.  The issue is these devices are very dirty and have lot of dust and all that.  The other issue is there is mold in that apartment but I been using those monitors for years.  There doesn't appear to be mold on the monitors though but that could be cleaned right?

How do I clean these 3 items safely before bringing it to another apartment?  I would be putting all these 3 things on an older 4 foot folding table and then try to wipe it clean.  The screens for the monitors are fine but the wires and cables are very dusty.  I put the UPS on the floor so there is dust and it is definitely dirty.  I got to assume there are mold spores there as well.

So you would wear nitrile gloves to clean it but what would you use to clean it?  Sponge?  Microfiber cloth?  Bounty towels?  Vinegar and water?  70% iso alcohol?  Can't imagine you use soap and water right?  What about wet ones or lysol wipes?  I want to clean each of them and bring them to another apartment.

What have you tried out so far?

Have you tried anything yet and did it fail or succeed?

A sponge made damp with lysol or pine sol, using either one and mixed with some water, in a bowl or bucket, with do the job as it will do for any other cleaning job to kill bacteria and germs and spores and remove dust and silt and grimes and greases and pollutants and other airborne contaminants and dandruff and dead skin flakes and pet dander and stray food particles and drink stains and bodily secretions and sweat and excrement remnants and etc.

Before you use any liquid.

Blow any of the dust off, then use whatever your equivalent of a feather duster is.

The reason: anything liquid will turn the dust into mud, which is doubly difficult to remove.

After that, whatever 00 says, sounds good to me.

If you can, take the UPS out on the back deck, and use a vacuum cleaner with the airflow reversed  and a crevice tool on the tube to blow out the dust accumulation on the inside of the UPS. Just direct the airflow in one of the air vents, and then the other. You may be surprised at the amount of dust that blows out. If one side of the UPS has a removable cover, all the better.

I haven't tried anything so far as I don't want to cause any damage to any of the 3 items.  Now I have used those glasses wipes on the monitors screen before previously.  I have also used it on the sides of it without any issue.

Could I buy lysol wipes for this or use 70% iso alcohol with say bounty?

I do not have a vaccum cleaner or anything of that nature.  I'm thinking lysol wipes probably is the best option while wearing nitrile gloves on all these things?  I am certainly not opening the UPS up.

This question and others like it have been asked and answered on more than one Forum in the past.

The OP always cross-posts at multiple other forums (under multiple different usernames), at least at those where he is not banned or suspended.
Threads drag on for months & years, sometimes more than 100 well-intentioned, informative replies.
But never a resolution.
And many topics are merely time-warped rehashes of identical threads for identical issues: so many, he seems to forget what he already posted.

This particular topic has been asked here & elsewhere many times.
To be honest, I shudder to think about the OP's living conditions, after months or years without basic cleaning.

It does not appear that these innumerable forum posts accomplish anything tangible to resolve his issues or improve his quality of life.

Given his posting history here & elsewhere, the OP might be better served by seeking professional mold remediation/cleaning service and professional mental health counseling.

Respectfully submitted

Lysol wipes are good for cleaning the plastic and metal components of various housing, chassis and cables. Good for cleaning both case and cooler fans too but not recommended for monitor screens.

"I am certainly not opening the UPS up."

Open the cover or hatch for the battery storage compartment and wipe it clean. Just to be 100% perfect.

Without a vacuum cleaner: Almost every woman has a hair dryer, use one of those. It'll get the loose stuff out the way

Ranchand's recommendation: to take your stuff outside - before you blow - is good

An electric air duster is a good investment for doing this type of job of removing solids.

It can be used repeatedly in the future for cleaning out the inside of the dusty PC(s) and has many other cleaning uses.

....And nothing that's been recommended - regardless of good intentions - will be implemented, as the reported problems have been in place for many months or years.

....And even if the suggestions were implemented, they would not resolve the root cause of toxic mold in the living quarters.

Lysol wipes & hair dryers are not an effective or safe solution.

But whatever....
