Here at BC, there are upload limits for embedded images, depending on your "rank." When you run out of space, you have to start deleting old images to post new images. That is somewhat of a pain.
I have a Flickr Pro account so that I can embed images via or tags of the images I want included in my posts here and elsewhere. I first upload the images to my Flickr account and link to them. I think Imgur and other image hosting sites will also host images and make them available to websites and Forums. Such images do not count against your image upload limit here since they are not stored on BC servers.
I hope this helps. One of the Moderators might be able to provide more information. Have a great day, and welcome to BC.
Regards,
Phil

Thanks. It seems my issue was in image extension format. Previously I tried to upload on ImgBB service, but forum didn't allow me to wrap it in image tags. Now, I figured out, the image should have to be jpg rather than png, which is unsupported here.
Have a nice day too.

Do we really need to go down this route?

Then what is the Purpose of "My Media" if we can Not Upload even jpg images here - Very complicated !!!
Imgbb has a place to select bbcode tags which this forum supports.

Personally, I get around the image attachment upload limits (and "rank" business? never heard of that one) by not bothering with them at all. I use an image-hosting site - like Dan has mentioned above - because all you're doing is inserting a link.......and that occupies almost zero space.
I use PostImages , and have done now for several years. Like all such sites, they give you a wide selection of different types of link, depending on the destination you wish to share with.
(I used to be able to link to animated GIFs, but it seems the current version of the IPBoard software no longer allows this.....which is somewhat annoying, since a GIF is often a good way to illustrate a point you wish to make "in-post".)

Oh, I've just discovered how to do what I was after, Dan. I've always been able to insert GIFs themselves, but you do have to watch the size you use, 'cos otherwise it makes it more awkward to view them for those with smaller, older monitors/displays (lots of up/down & sideways scrolling). The XenForo software automatically resizes stuff to fit the individual's display, regardless of resolution. The IPBoard software is not quite so flexible, it seems...
PostImages have a special link that will insert an animated, clickable "thumbnail" in the post body, which then sends you to the full-size image in the "viewer" on their site. I CAN use it with the IPBoard software.....but you have to toggle BBcode to "off" via the wee switch top-left of the editor window, and then insert it directly, followed by toggling BBcode back on. The first attempt to post it as a new thread results in the
You are not allowed to use that extension type in this community
.....warning, but then 'previewing' it appears to post it! Weird...
Like so:-

Very peculiar. And needlessly awkward, given that even basic forum software - like pHpBB - supports this nowadays without needing to jump through hoops..! Though having said that, pHpBB, being a bit more 'basic', doesn't try to obscure the BBcode with lots of fancy GUI stuff.....you see the BBcode directly, in every post you create.
Posting as a reply, however, posts normally, without any warning. At least, it does for ME. Odd...

The clickable thumbnail link is a combination of image AND URL, Dan. You try to insert it via the URL box, it won't do squat. You try and insert it using the 'Image' box, you get the warning about the not-allowed image type extension. But inserting it directly without BBcode being turned on seems to work like a dream!
Ah, well. Ya live & learn, n'est-ce pas?
