But I still have a few questions about it.
Does it show your current elevation while you ride and how much storage does it have for gpx routes?

The unit does show a running/real time altimeter but the specs make no mention of how many markers or waypoints can be stored.

So if I start at an elevation of 200 ft, then I go gradually up to 700, it will change? It's not just a elevation change thing right?

According to the REI website this device does not have an altimeter.

Copy of the Owners Manual in .pdf form
I have read though in several reviews that it only has an elevation gained feature or whatever.

Got the Garmin Edge 20 and it actually has an altimeter.

I use a Garmin Geko 101, the $50. hikers unit. It has a running altimeter readout so it should be a standard parameter for all GPS units.

I'm going to use my Edge 20 for hiking too so I can see the statistics, but I'm not actually going to make it count on Garmin Connect.

Never mind, Connect allows you to change the type of activity when you upload it.
