I am trying to remove the rear cover , after having removed the (3) torx-like screws from the back to change the batteries .

This is the general description but I got it for FD in 2009-works great, small foot print ( not like this URL) :

This is a no go, wont budge, the top prys up, the bottom comes up a little but I don't want to break it since it work very well but the battery life is waning.

Any ideas?

Since this isn't a user serviceable item, I suggest you contact SkyGolf.

Lower right: Battery replacement.
