I am using Photoshop Elements to produce some passport sized photo's.

I have resized the image to the required size i.e. 4.5cm x 3.5cm but, when I come to upload the image the photo is too big to fit within the box that appears on the page where I am trying to book a cruise.

If the image is the correct size, does anyone know what could be causing this problem please?

The resolution is set at 300.

Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Hello,

I think you mixed up the dimensions -- use 3.5cm x 4.5cm (vs 4.5cm x 3.5cm)

Happy sailing!

Hello ctigga, thank you for your input.  I can confirm that I had the figures the wrong way round in my original post.  I have in fact resized it to 3.5 x 4.5 in Elements.

Any other thoughts?

Bluenose...what and why is the link you provided? I am not going to register at some website I have never heard of, and why did you post it?

Your picture...the easiest way to size it to what you want it import it into a vector editor, such as CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator or . There are free ones you can probably use. A draw program will enable you to size to whatever you want. Gimp is a good free one.

Hello ranchhand, I did not add that link to my thread.  I posted the thread quite early this morning and then went out, when I got back there was a reply from ctigga in my mailbox and. when I clicked on the link in his reply which should have taken me to my thread, it didn't and all I got was an error message which said that I did not have permission to view the thread.  I then contacted the administrator to explain my problem, to which by the way, I have not yet recieved a reply.  However, when I tried again to get into the thread it worked and I was able to reply to his suggestion.  This was then followed by your input and, when I read it I wondered what you were referring to and so went back to my original post, it was then that I saw the link, which I assure you was definitely not put there by me.

Anyway, all of that aside, thank you for your input, it is very much appreciated.  I will give your suggestion a try and will report back.  Hopefully it will solve my problem.  Thanks again for your help.

Edit:  I have just noticed that the edit to my original post was done by buddy215, who that is I just don't know or why he did it, perhaps it was an error on his part.

I have hopefully attached an image of the resized details of my photo but, despite the fact that they are extremely close to the required 3.5cm x 4.5cm, the image still does not fit into the space allocated by P & O for the uploaded photo.

I have done this resizing by using GIMP as suggested by ranchhand.

I don't know where to go from here.  I don't usually like to be beaten when trying something new but I think that this has got me!

I haven't been able to attach an image so the details are as follows:-

Width 3.497 cm -  Height 4.504 cm

X Resolution 300.000

Y Resolution 300.000

Interpolation  - Cubic

I have exported the file and converted it from .cxf to .jpeg

If anyone can see anything wrong with this and is able to point it out, it will be much appreciated.  Thank you

"Width 3.497 cm -  Height 4.504 cm"

Well try "Width 3.497 cm -  Height 4.497 cm"

Actually "Width 3.40 cm -  Height 4.40 cm" would probably be better, as there may be minor discrepancies with your Printer

Hello Bluenose. I can explain what happened in part. I'd address you via PM, but since this was publicly written, I'm responding publicly.

buddy215 is one of our moderators and he thought your topic was spam because of the link in it. Now the full link you see that was edited in is in fact hidden within the word Report at the bottom of your topic. Your topic was removed to a place where we put spam which is why you couldn't get to it. I happened to see the post there and questioned whether the post was actually spam and that the link likely went to a report to a post on another help site. Your topic was subsequently restored by another.

Question: Did you in fact include a link within the word "Report"? Did you even write the word Report? If not, you may have an infection on your computer that created that hidden link.

Help us help you. If HelpBot replies, you MUST follow step 1 in its reply so we know you need help.

Thank you for your explanation, it has helped somewhat.  With regard to your question, no I didn't include a link in the word report and no I didn't write the word report either.  I am not aware of any infection on my pc, I use a paid for version of malwarebytes which I hope keeps on top of such things.  At the age of 83 I do get a bit confused at times but generally speaking I am fairly good at the basics of the techie stuff.  It's when it gets a bit more complicated that I start to get baffled.  Thanks again.

Hello wee-eddie, thank you for your input.  I don't need to print the photo, I just need to upload it to the P & O Cruise website for the on-line check-in process but, whatever I have tried so far just doesn't work.  I will give your suggestion a try shortly.  Thank you.

As it is a Cruise Line, who will be accustomed to dealing with the decrepit, anything that you send them that the Mug Shot is within the correct proportions, will probably be sufficient.

OK, not ideal, but they're not idiots and probably 30% of their clients are unable to get it exactly right, so they will have suitable software in the office to do the business.

Yes you're probably right.  I'll take my chances I think and hope that it's sufficient for their needs.  Thank you.

Yes it's 'My P & O Cruise' which is their check-in on-line system which is supposed to help with cutting down the time taken at the actual dockside.
