Best Photo Software 4 Organizing

Hi,

I am an amateur photographer, and I am looking for the best software for organizing photos.  Editing features are also important, but organizing is my main focus right now.  I have pictures on several devices, etc that I want to centralize.  Thanks.    

"Organizing" and "editing" are general functions that do not indicate definitively what your goal is.  How are these files "organized" today...and what sort of order are you seeking to establish...that is not apparent right now?

Your first task when seeking to organise is an "organised" Naming System and a logical Filing System

You will likely need several programs.  One I recommend is XnViewMP.  It's a good one for viewing thumbnails and reviewing images with their slide show.  You can open multiple instances of the program so you can have several folders open at the same time.

For editing one of the ones I like is Gimp.  It has a bit of a learning curve but worth the effort.

For organizing photos I use legacy non subscription Lightroom 5.2. I don't think it is any longer available.  This is not a recommendation for subscription software however $10 per month.

With Lightroom I can display thumbnails of any folder.  Or any group of folders if I hold down Ctrl while selecting folders.  I can see the folder structure of the folders I have imported into Lightroom.  I can view and sort in many ways.  I can highlight one or more images and move them to another folder.  I can batch rename.  I can create new folders.

There are many editing features, contrast, color adjustments and a LOT more.

Lightroom has probably evolved a lot since my purchase  but I have no interest in subscription software.
