Primary monitor keeps blacking out

The primary Monitor just started blacking out. I've updated drivers to latest AMD and installed latest chipset drivers for my motherboard, the secondary monitor is fine but when the primary blacks out I lose sound so I think its a driver issue. I switched cables several times, DP to DP to HDMI but problem still persists. I've tried inserting cables snugly but that seemed to work for a little while I have a 1600w EVGA G2, 7900xtx Monitor 1 - ASUS VG34V 3440x 1400


 

Hi, can you supply the full proper info from the rear of the ASUS Tuf Gaming :  VG34V  is missing information there is more.   Unless the rest is : VG34VQL1B

 

You do not mention what OS you are running.    Nor what Video Card as it is not properly named as well.  7900xtx as per : https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=7900xtx

Everything needs using proper names please :=}    So how many Gig, how many fans, merc360,   When updating your drivers from AMD from Task Bar Hidden Items do you do a Facory install.

If not start doing so.   As well never ever take MS Update Video Drivers : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/146562-prevent-windows-update-updating-specific-device-driver.html

 

If you have done so do the factory install.  As well can do DDU if feel Factory install did not after trying help in the outcome.

I used DDU to install current drivers I have also updated the monitor  driver  I unplugged the monitor and hit power to discharge it . It worked for a while then reverted to blacking out intermittently again

Just curious: you mention switching cables,  but you didn't clarify. Did you mean that you switched the cables between the 2 monitors, or you tried a 3rd cable that you had? Did you try plugging the faulting monitor into a different port on your card? Have you got another GC you can try in your PC?

 

If you use the port and cable you normally use for the faulting monitor on the 2nd one, do you ever have trouble?

I have 2 DP cables 2.1 and 1.4 and several HDMI I have tried all of them to eliminate the cable issue. The other 2560x1080 monitor works fine with these cables

Plug the working monitor into the port that the blacking out monitor is in and see if it happens there.

The possibilities include a bad port and incompatible cable, so can you please answer my other questions?

 

Also, you need to confirm that the cables you have are compatible with your card and monitor. Some require a specific sub-type in addition to the version, ex. 2.1a.

This is getting crazier, I am using the monitor on my old system with a RX 580 on one of the old HDMI cables and no issue so far

That would indicate that one of your ports on the newer PC is going out.
