I'm getting a late start in life, as far as learning about mp3 players, and how to set up playlists on them, is concerned. If there's anyone out there who reads this and can lend me some insight, I'd be most grateful.
I noticed a few 32 GB mp3 players on Amazon, and I currently have about 27 GB of mp3s sitting in folders on my laptop that I'd like to put onto an mp3 player. Before I buy one I just need to know if I will be able to put these folders of songs onto my player as playlists, in the same alphabetical order they are in in the folders. For instance: I have a folder named SOUNDS OF 1997 that contains 113 tunes from that year that I want to be able to play one after another in the exact order I choose. I actually have many of these SOUNDS Of folders I wish to include, which totals to about 3500 songs. But I also have folders like GREAT SONGS FROM THE NINETIES YOU'VE PROBABLY FORGOTTEN that I want to include, which will necessarily have repeats of some of the songs in the "songs by year" folders. I'm assuming I can include copies of the same song in multiple playlists on a player.
Before I buy an mp3 player, I just want to make sure that I'll be able to upload all these songs onto it and arrange all of them into playlists exactly the way I want them. I'm also new to the idea of "tagging," and am wondering if I'm going to have to go through the arduous task of tagging all of my mp3s before I can listen to them on my player. Also, I'm wondering if mp3 players automatically make allowance for dB (volume) differences so that each song comes out at the same volume. My entire mp3 collection has already been run through MP3Gain, which was set at the default 89.0 dB level. Nevertheless, the best I've been able to get for all these songs is a volume range of 88.3 dB to 89.7 dB, which means that I can still detect annoying volume variances on the CDs I burn. Even if I use the "normalization" function in NERO when burning CDs, I still find myself messing with the volume knob, which drives me crazy! I recently installed ADOBE AUDITION on my laptop with the hope that it might be able to get all my tunes at the exact same volume level.
So again, if there's anyone out there who can identify with my present audio challenges, and provide a little guidance, I sure could use it. And any suggestions on the perfect mp3 player (make and model) for what I'm trying to do would be great!
