Like someone that is currently working as an ISSO (Information Systems Security Officer), what IT job roles would they have likely done in the past before working as an ISSO?

Highlight anything security-related and network-related in your previous roles.

If you are an IT Help Desk Analyst, did you troubleshoot firewalls, permissions, closed ports, antivirus or malware-related incidents?

If you work as a Security Guard, what physical security issues did you see?

If you work in retail, what customer service skills did you have? Inventorying?

People have all kinds of skills that they don't normally think about.

My guess would be, in the following order:

- Desktop/helpdesk (level 1) tech.

- Network tech

- Network administrator

- Use this to collect and post information about your PC hardware, software and configuration (Whether or not you have crashing).

Guys, is working as ISSO worth it? Are there someone who can share some impressions of this work to me?

Hi, @GhostWarrior59:

Since the topic starter has not returned to BC since posting in January 2022, there's a good chance he/she has found a job by now.

At least one would hope so.

But thanks for your input.

Cheers

Before becoming an ISSO, many people work as network administrators, systems administrators, or IT security analysts. These roles help build the necessary security and system management skills that an ISSO needs. Moreover, you might find relevant IT openings in your local area that can provide this experience. Check out https://afnicareers.com/ for various IT job listings that could help you progress toward an ISSO role. They regularly update with new opportunities. I myself got my first job using this platform.
