Morning all,

I've got IT background but minimal AWS background aside from Cloud Practitioner; a new SaaS Asset Management solution my company is bringing online lives in AWS so I'm loading up.

I've scheduled the AWS Solutions Architect Associate exam for Dec 1st giving me just over 2 months of dedicated study time, I'll be using the LinuxAcademy material for primary studies. AWS Data Analytics is set for 2/1/21, no current material in mind for this one and AWS Security set for 3/23/21, LinuxAcademy for Security.

Hot juggle I know but has anybody else taken these exams and how long did you study? I 100% agree w/ hands-on experience so I'll be living in AWS from now until the end of March essentially. What materials were most useful to you for each? I'm especially dry on the Data Analytics side right at the moment but will be googling all day tomorrow and can definitely share whatever I find.

Thoughts?

Cheers!

I can't answer your question directly about AWS, unfortunately, because I am in the Azure space.

But, I can give you a general, but resounding, endorsement of Linux Academy. If you had to pin me down to one paid educational service out there right now, it would be Linux Academy.

The recent merger with ACloudGuru makes it that much sweeter.

(I am Linux+, Cloud+, and Azure-certified, and I would say I received small but indispensable help from Linux Academy in getting there).

When AWS first came around, I read all of Amazon's manuals on AWS; and spun up some elementary VM's in the portal. But, I am more of a book- and manual- kind of person.

I generally don't like video services. Linux Academy is a rare exception.

I definitely wish I had the freetime for books and manuals. I can audio/video and hands-on all day but turning pages I simply don't have the time for. I've been using LinuxAcademy for various Linux labs over the past few months but haven't quite gotten to taking the Linux+ exam. The academy helped w/ my Security+ and Cloud Practitioner; it'll further be helping w/ PenTest+, CISSP, and anything else I can squeeze it for while I've got it. I appreciate your endorsement!

You mentioned preferring turning pages but have you ever used TestOut, or ITPro? They've also been regular in the rotation. Both have handy excellent audio to walk the dog and travel to/from work with. The PocketPrep app has been extremely useful for practice exams too. I figured out practice-labs.com hosts a solid dozen or so of the big provider's labs so I've been burning through them along with everything else.

Always more to learn!

Additional AWS Solutions Architect Assoc. (SAA) resources:

I haven't purchased these but all udemy material is currently on sale. The DolfinEd material apparently doesnt go on sale often. Maarek, Bonso, and DolfinEd all highly recommended; DolfinEd apparently goes well above and beyond the SAA cert into DevOps.

Cheers!
