Speccy doesn't show my 2TB external HDD because I don't have enough plugs to accomodate my external HDD, speakers and cable modem. All 3 of them have oversized plugs, and I can only have 2 plugged in at any given time.

Was talking about electrical plugs - there is only 1 wall outlet within reach of my PC setup, and I have a power strip in one socket. One big plug goes into the other socket (usually computer speakers), and another big plug goes into the bottom of the power strip (usually cable modem). When I need to use my external HDD (for back-ups usually), I unplug my speakers.

2 points:
- I normally keep that drive turned off anyhow, so it lasts longer, various scans that I run don't have to scan it, and so that my backups will be safe in case my system get's a massive malware infection or get's encrypted by some crypto-virus.
-plugging & unplugging that drive is no real chore. Picture shows the shelf that holds my HDD, cable modem, router and power strip.
The big black plug in the wall is for my speakers, the smaller big plug laying on the carpet is for the HDD. There are no obstructions, and I have to get up just to turn the HDD on or off.

Computer tower, monitor, a desk lamp I rarely use, wireless router, cable modem and a space heater I probably won't need until at least september.

My power strip is very basic, the outlets don't rotate or anything. The plug for my HDD would block 2 extra sockets if I were to plug it in any spot but the bottom spot (where my cable modem is currently plugged in). Losing the lamp and the space heater wouldn't be enough, I 'd have to unplug something else too- much easier to just keep it the way it is.
