Last year we said, "Things can't go on like this", and they didn't, they got worse.

I don't run Ubuntu, so I never have this problem. Might be time to change.

I've used Ubuntu and Ubuntu flavors and have never had this problem.
Learn some basic Linux how to do stuff and you will have a better Linux experience.
Open the terminal and copy and paste the command press enter and then enter your password and press enter and then reboot your computer and then install all the deb files you want.
How hard can this be.
sudo apt install gdebi

I take it you HAVE - at some point - read the Forum Rules?
Quite plain, in black & white. Both post AND signature contravene this rule.....
Just sayin'.

Why do you think I said I don't have this problem ? Who said I didn't know how to install .deb files...not me. Maybe you don't understand what I wrote.
It's already installed in Mint...deb files are easy to install and don't tell me to learn Linux basics either as you don't know me.
Been on this Forum 5 minutes and I'm told to learn Linux basics not very welcoming...I see manners don't count for much either.

I've heard some rumblings that Canonical is working on a fix supposedly, I mean this Deb file problem has been in Ubuntu since 23.10 so they knew about it. Its just now after enough backlash that their talking about fixing it.

Well I found these two examples last night on DDG.
https://github.com/ubuntu/app-center/issues/1407
So it looks like we might see a fix by the .01 release of Ubuntu 24.04 for this issue.
