Ugg. I have to say that I wish I could just learn this stuff in Windows. I remember now why I like the power of LInux but despise the user experience. This distrib is no exception.

- Firefox? is causing hard hangs which force me to cold boot

- Sound plays through my speakerphone, instead of my HD audio speakers

- There are screen artefacts

- It throws an error and won't boot when I select UEFI boot

So much for working out of the box, huh?

Anyways, enough griping. Maybe I'll work on those problems later. For now, I need to persist with persistence. See attached screenshot.

Kali is not a typical Linux distro, so it is unfair to judge your experience of using it as a typical Linux user experience.  It is not.

I don't want to turn this into a debate about Linux. All I want to say is

that I'll stick with Windows for my everyday use.

That was not my intention, it was just a comment.

I use both Windows and Linux, and have good experiences with both.

Kali however is a specialist distro, made and designed for a specific purpose, and should be judged as such.

Oh, I no. No worries. You made a good point, and I will keep it

in mind. If I wanted a live distro that enumerated and set up

everything perfectly, I'd probably want to use Knoppix. On those

rare occasions I used a live distro before, it worked great.

But "I'm going back to Kali, Kali, Kali, I'm goin back to Kali...."

cyrptodan:

Are you still with us? The Linux dufus here would love the help.

I have some Alfa Wireless Wifi adapters coming tomorrow, and I'd love to be able to take it for a test drive.

Nope, not even in the ballpark. And I don't want to use my next

laptop except during blackouts.

Any comments on the screenshot you requested?

dan:

Thanks, however, I'll need you to be way more specific and detailed

than that. Can I do it live without backing up and restoring data?

Should I do it in Gparted?

Again, Linux newbie. I think you're way overestimating my skill

and knowledge levels.

Well, there goes another hour or two of my time.

What partitions sizes, types do you recommend? Would you spell

it all for me, please.
