And all this can be done in Gparted?

I find it kind of stunning that Kali is presented as a tool that

is appropriate for beginners, but you can't get a decent

amount of persistent storage without manually wiping

and creating new partitions?

Seems they really didn't think that through.

Wait...isn't there some way I can just do this dynamically

without wiping the system and having to start from scratch?

Partition Magic can do that in Windows. No way to do it

in Linux?

Another strike for Linux, then. I'm starting more and

more to feel like Linux is a cult as much as an OS.

Okay, so can I just roughly format in half?

Which filesystems should I use? More details please?

Do it as I have instructed there is no shortcuts here. It would be easier if you used a VM with a second wifi passed through using vmware as intended by the kali developers. Persistence is there for those times you don't have another storage media to use to store data on.

Are there detailed and easy to follow instructions for setting up

a VM for Kali?

Maybe I'll just do that. I'm already overwhelmed these days,

and my new Wifi gear hasn't even shown up yet.

I'm thinking maybe Hyper-V might be a better idea.

The couple times I installed VMware I found it very

confusing. Do you know of a decent tutorial for

setting up Hyper-V for use with VMware?

Hmm...doesn't bode well for me...I'm a Broadcom

shareholder, and they own VMWare.

Vmware is very easy to use. I've been using it for the last 11 years.

What do you find confusing about it?

If you don't want to use VMWare, then VirtualBox is easy to use.

Details for installing Kali on it can be found at ... https://www.kali.org/docs/virtualization/install-virtualbox-guest-vm/

Don't use Hyper-V myself, but found a set of instrctions for installing Kali on it at ... https://xpertstec.com/how-to-install-kali-linux-on-hyper-v-virtual-machine/

Hmm...I think I'd still like to install this on a flash drive, for privacy

reason.

Can I just partition and format the flash drive into two equal

partitions, as you suggested above, and then install to the

flash drive? I've never installed Kali from scratch before, just

installed using the .iso to the flash drive.

Thanks.
