I looked at the video. But there was no audio. I got everything off the flash card, but about 6 items keep coming back. They are all emials that I had transferred from the laptop. Ok, I just checked. They are gone now. I understood some of the video. I need the UNetbootin box set up like yours. I will also need to download Puppy again. I will do some more tomorrow. Don't need it till early July. When I right clicked on UNetbootin, and clicked properties, I didn't see Roxio. When it shows type of file, it says  "Application (.exe)".

I think you should format the flash drive to Fat32 to wipe it clean > download the iso > Use Unetbootin to make a bootable usb, is that what you are doing?

Unetbootin & Universal USB Installer both has a format option, no need to perform this task beforehand. Have used both, just that the Universal USB Installer works the best for me. It's basically click & shoot, and works with all sorts of ISO's for utilities (like backup/rescue & partitioning media), even Windows 7 & 8.1 ones for install.

There's a new version released several times a year, though am still using the one from sometime last fall. Not a lot of difference between each release.

The second video has audio. Did you watch it, and did you understand it?

Please let us know what, if anything, you didn't understand.

Ok, last night I downloaded the 100MB file onto the flash card. I got it into the laptop now.  Puppy came up. This is after I booted from the fhash card.

It says "Loading kernal drivers needed to access disk drivers. Not sure what to do next. I might try to redownloade the 201MB Puppy. Then burn that to a CD. Might have made a mistake last time.

The second video has no sound on this site. Today I watched it on Youtube. It has sound there. I did that last year, but forgot some of it.

Good.

It says "Loading kernal drivers needed to access disk drivers.

That's the first thing Puppy always says when its booting up.

Not sure what to do next.

If Tahr Puppy didn't boot up, your computer might be too old to run it. You would probably have better luck with Precise Puppy which you can download from here. Choose either precise-5.7.1.iso, or precise-5.7.1-retro.iso, then do the same as you did with the Tahr Puppy ISO.

The second video has no sound on this site.

When you watch it on this site, you are streaming it from youtube. It works fine for me. Anyway, that's not important, and at least we're getting somewhere now. :)

Ok, should I click on it, or just leave it the way it is? When I click on it, it ask me what I want to do. The file type is SFS file.

You downloaded the wrong file.

Delete that file because you won't need it, then download either of the files that ends in .iso

Then do the same as you did with the Tahr Puppy iso file.

I downloaded the file. I right clicked on it in the flash drive. The properties says opens with Roxio. But I don't have Roxio on the desktop computer. So it must be on the flash card. How do I remove it?

I don't think Roxio is on the flash but you can look, if you don't see it it's probably not on there.  I think it is some kind of tag Roxio uses because you downloaded it on the xp machine.  You might be able to go into Roxio later and change the settings in it, to make it not be the Default software for this, maybe I don't know.

In the future I suggest you don't download anything with XP if possible.  One needs to be very careful when doing so.  We can help you get a download with your Vista machine if needed.

Why are you downloading to flash - because you are using the laptop to download  right?  Why are you clicking on it, you don't need to do it that way, let's just go the route I suggest below.

It should not be on the flash at this point.  If it is on the flash, "Move" "Cut" it to a folder on your desktop pc and leave it there, to your desktop if that is the easiest place to find it.  From some of your posts it seems you are not using the right procedure.

Open Unetbootin or other usb installer that you downloaded (are you using the one cat suggested?) if so it shows all this at the site he linked you to, and use the dialogue box "Browse" in the installer to navigate to the iso file on desktop pc, you see, you find the iso with the installer, not by clicking on it.

Cat said somewhere there is the option to format the usb during the LiveUSB creation, do this if you see it, I clearly see it on the site, check it.  Then just create it as it says 1,2,3, done!  Sorry, I am lost as to which installer you are using now.  Which ever one it is, go to youtube and search for some good vids on how to do this, it will help you a lot.  You might have to watch a few to get one that makes sense.

We'll be here when you need help, pcpunk

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.

I used Unetbootin the first time. That was with Puppy. But I couldn't find Precise Puppy, with Unetbootin I only found Puppy. There are others on there, but not that one. I went to the link for Precise Puppy, and downloaded it from there. I use the flash card so I don't have to unplug the cable from the desktop. I might copy the link, and put it on the laptop tomorrow. Then see if I can download it that way.  I prefer to use the flashcard for Puppy. Had problems putting Ubuntu on a DVD last week. After the download, it did a scan, and then it said it couldn't be downloaded.

I think there is some confusion here. .. maybe it's just me .. but  lets keep it simple...

when you download a Puppy ...or ubuntu .. or most any distro   to where ever you download it to you get a icon or similar with something like "puppy-precise5-7-1.iso"   remember where you download it  to

then open either your CD burning software  or Unetbooting or whatever...then follow its method to either burn an image to disc or whatever the wording is to put it on a thumbdrive etc. it will ask you to select file.go through the directories until you find the Puppy.iso..  then follow one of the previous posters instructions...

if you R click and it says open with "XXX"  that can be changed somewhere though i forget where as i havent used windows for 10yrs   (maybe in the properties dialog box)  you can set it to open in Word if you want..it wont do it but you can set it to.... ignore the R click

make sure you dont copy the ISO to disc..though many burning softwares default to burn image file ....

It wouldn't download into the Unetbootin. I have it in the flash card. In removable disk J. When I clicked on it, Roxio opens up. But I never used Roxio on the desktop, or downloaded it.

Here is the screen shot of that.

Can you use Roxio to burn the ISO to a CD?

1) Put a blank CD in the drive.

2) Click on the Puppy file and Roxio will open.

3) Then click on Burn Image in Roxio.
