RAIMA,

hold in the ALT key and continually press the right arrow key, this will take you back to your desktop.

Perhaps you could tell me which desktop you installed.

Who would help me through it?

RAIMA,

Perhaps you could tell me which desktop you installed.

He said Cinnamon

RAMIA, I tried to do this in Virtual Machine and LiveDVD but had some problems.  I don't think it to be to difficult but I cannot test it out for you, sorry.

Did you re-boot after installing Cinnamon?

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.

RAIMA,

are you still stuck in a virtual terminal? if you are hold down the ALT key and press the right arrow key continuously until you return to the black desktop.

It looks like you might have to re-install your linux Mint but seek further advice before you do this,

For future use  http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ and

http://www.linuxquestions.org/ are good linux forums. I use them both,

Ramia, have you previously installed a video driver to Mint?

To safely shut down the computer when you are unable to access the graphical desktop, follow these steps:

1. Hold down Ctrl and Alt then press F1 (as tealover said).
2. Enter you username then password when asked to do so.
3. When logged in and at the command prompt, run this command:
sudo shutdown -h now

Those instructions were only to enable you to be able to shutdown the computer when you can't access the graphical desktop.

We can't be sure what the problem is yet.

Please tell us whether you have previously installed a video driver to Mint.

Is everything working now, except for the Cinnamon Desktop?

I don't want you do to any harm to your system but you seem to be insistent on installing this, which one did you install before?

Before suggesting things like time shift and " gparted pics of your System Drive ", Lets try and fix the problem the OP has, and that is a black screen after boot up. Jumping ahead like this is just confusing for the OP especially since there is a language barrier.

Yes, I understand. Have you previously installed a video driver to Mint? Please let us know if you do not understand the question.

Please also post specifications for your computer. Have you ever run Speccy or posted the output of any command that begins with
inxi
for this computer, on this forum? If so, please post a link.

RAMIA, if you installed "cinnamon" this could be your problem, you need to Uninstall that and reboot.

Then install "mint-meta-cinnamon" and reboot.

You might want to wait to see what Al000 says about all this.

It seems that you shut down, re-started and tried Cinnamon Desktop again, but it didn't work is that true?

RAIMA,

if you have no GUI, then the command line (bash) will be the only interface.

It's best to install a working desktop before uninstalling another.

This would be done by opening a virtual terminal, by ALT+Ctrl+F!

Then enter user name and password and the line below.

sudo apt-get install xfce4

This will give you the standard XFCE desktop environment which is compatible with linux Mint. Enter your password after running the command. The package manager will then install all the packages that make up the desktop environment. You need to  type y to confirm.

If you restart. you will see a list of the desktops environments you have installed, select the Xfce session. Sign in and you'll have access to all your home folders and files..

On second thought, i'm not certain this will work but it does for Ubuntu. The Mint system may be corrupted and a better solution might be to backup to a portable drive using the command line and do a fresh install of Cinammon
