I've been on the hunt for some new games to sink my teeth into, and your suggestions sound intriguing. I'm particularly drawn to your description of Neverwinter Nights 2 with its Mask of the Betrayer expansion—I'm a sucker for a good RPG experience that leaves a lasting impression.

And Space Pirates and Zombies sounds like a blast too, especially with those RPG elements thrown in. If you're into trying out different types of games, have you ever given spider solitaire a shot? It's a classic card game that's surprisingly addictive. I've found it's a great way to unwind after a long day of battling space pirates or embarking on epic adventures in MMOs.

Well, I will jump in here just for giggles.

Star Control was a Sega Genesis game that was wildly popular in the 90's. The year it came out it won the best si-fi game award and still have a cult following to this day.  It has elements of Chess principles and  a whole array of starships that you use to defend and attack the enemy (Ur Quan) and drive them back until you defeat them and save your galaxy. The graphics would be considered simple by modern standards, but when you are in the middle of a heated battle you don't notice anymore.

Anyway....link to play free online: https://arcadespot.com/game/star-control/

It was so popular, they came out with Star Control 2 that is even better, but must be installed. a HUGE map of stars that must be investigated, and many aliens you must converse with to gain information  to save yourself and earth. Some of them will have you laughing when they "talk" to you. Some of them are not very nice and you will find yourself in battle using a variety of weapons. You must build your starship gradually as you explore further in to the galaxy of hundreds of stars. This game can get very white-knuckled intense, it starts off kind of simple but that doesn't last long.

That was so hugely popular that they came out with Star Control 3. IMHO not so great, but worth the time. They ask a couple of bucks for SG2, but very well worth it.
