Possible hard drive failure - what are my options?

Sounds like the drive's mainboard is dying. Keep us posted.

I've ordered a replacement Seagate drive PCB from AliExpress, having watched someone on YouTube successfully get a broken Seagate drive working by swapping its PCB with that of a donor drive, and further swapping the BIOS from the old board onto the new one. (Yes I checked to make sure the PCB numbers are the same!)

 

Are my solder skills great? Not really. Do I have much to lose? Not especially!
