WD Elements HD not showing up

Yes thke drive is detected on a different computer.

I'm not sure what is going on. If diskpart does not list the disk then Disk Management would not. In device manager right click the WD drive and select Properties. What is shown under the General tab?

 

Did you run DeviceCleanupcmd as shown in my post #11?

Detach the drive. In your post #22 you did not add the asterisk after the command

 

At the C:\x64 prompt.

diskcleanupcmd.exe *

After running the command shutdown then reboot. Is the drive detected when attached?

No the drive is not detected when attached.  Diskcleanup finished it said it removed 28 items.

If the drive is still not detected then I'm of ideas, sorry. As previously posted did you try a different cable?

Could always try using a linux live session to see if the external drive is detected in linux?

Follow cryptodan's advice on booting a live linux distro. This will tell you if there is some kind of Windows corruption. What is strange though is other USB devices work fine on the computer. Only the WD drive is having a problem being detected.

Cryptodan I would not know where to begin.  I know nothing about linux.
