Beaker77 please run MTB as it works just fine on Win10 and 11 also. MTB will show if there is a Faulting Error Code. If there is it is relatively easy to fix.

WD updating - see image. No need for MTB, matter solved.
The feature shown in the image was set to OFF, probably by the system in 12/22, since WD updating was regular up to that time.
I set it to ON, did a WD scan and WD updated on 30/04/23.
WD updates are now appearing again on Windows Update, so all is back to normal.

What other anti-virus do you have?
I do not have any other AV but have on manual commend anti-malware programs. They are not active until required.

I only ask because the image you shared above doesn't seem normal because it thinks Windows Defender is a secondary anti-malware program and that you have another installed.
WD AV is a secondary AV but it is not enabled, the above will allow it to do a periodic scan only. Avast is my enabled AV.

Remove avast and stick to windows defender it's just as good if not better then avast.
Avast has performed impeccably for years - it sure stays.
