Mike ~ Apparently, my school thought I was dyslexic and I spent afternoons forced to  learn to write italic script (what good that'd have been I have no idea). Anyway, the autism got me a job as a Dealer on the Floor of the London Stock Exchange (pre-Computer days). That ended with Burnout but, I had put enough money by, to spend the rest of the 60's and the early 70's as a Gofer, in the Chelsea's world of entertainment. An unpredicted and unrepeatable experience. I was so lucky

Heyo All!

I visited here some time ago, when I ran into a nasty computer problem, and the great ones here helped me root it out.

Now, though, I'm here to talk cell phone tech.  As you all probably know, Sprint was bought out by T-Mobile.  I actually liked our Sprint service overall, and am a little bit peeved about having to beg for new SIM cards for our phones.  So I'm probably shopping for carriers and phones and new plans.  Ugh, recent experiences have indicated that nobody speaks English where mobile phone plans and pricing are concerned.

Anyway, dropped in to say "hello" here, and will likely stick to the "Cell Phones" topic henceforth

Now I'm posting in this thread too, even though I've been registered here since May 2020.
When I signed up, it was for a very specific reason. Unfortunately, nothing developed from this story for various reasons, but the atmosphere here at BC is simply outstanding.
You can tell that the moderators and the staff banish the haters and idiots quickly and sustainably. This is definitely not an easy job, with such a huge forum.
So far, I've been able to solve all the problems I've had with my system with the help of the other users, and I try to do my part to make sure there are only competent and nice people here. My English is not one hundred percent perfect, but I try hard.
I think I am a very advanced computer user, but there are many here that exceed my knowledge by far!
Many thanks to all who participate here day after day - no matter how.
Regards,
C.

I just found this site after getting burned by a Malware attack. I tried to be clever and eliminate it myself. I even used the XP original disk to operate in command mode and erase several files that were protected when XP and all the files were running. I did pretty good, but it still had an executable "Ypiapy.exe" that would spawn a new copy of itself in system32 and, of course execute.

I also lost the ability to change my background on the desktop. After reading the forum here and a post by MFDnSC on "Spyware has changed my Desktop Background" I installed Ewido and running in Safe Mode it found an item in my boot.inx file. That seemed to take care of the Spyware and then the vb script in that post at www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/cleandesktop.exe fixed the desktop.

Interesting to note is that Ypiapy.exe was not visible in the Windows Task Manager. But it was detected as running with DllView.

Anyway after two days of sweat and just about ready to reload my system I am now running again and I know have learned that you can get infected just by visiting a site!

It is interesting to see the divergence in what some very experienced users are into.   Some are looking at crashes and conflicts.  Others are trying to put out fires after theri equipment lights up.  Some are trying to fix issues related to gaming, others, business productivity.  Some have juiced up new hardware.  Others are bent on making older equipment keep up to new demands.   One gains new insights regardless the direction the query has taken.

Some feedback, I can follow.  Minidumps of processes just about cross my eyes.  I better find a tutorial on the practical use of mindumps. A lot can be learned on this site and the assistance quite valuable.  I suspect targeting the appropriate forum is the key to a satisfying experience.  About the only quirk I notice is that on occasion, it appears one has to have some sort of permission to address even an uncontroversial computer topic.  That's going to have me looking into particulars in forum rules.  Most curious.  Anyway, there appears an abundance of information worthy of sifting.

Hello everyone! Like so many of you, I've been visiting the site whenever I have Windows issues. I've been meaning to create a forum account to ask for solutions on one of my problems before but somehow always forgot to do so. I don't have any tech issues and I figured I'd make an account now and just engage in conversations whenever I can.

Thank you BleepingComputer for years and years of nifty PC/Windows solutions! Glad to be here. :D

Not actually new here... I've been helped here a couple times in the past, about 16+ years ago or so. :grinner: It's good to see that you guys are around still, doling out the cures for the computer sicknesses. I've always pointed people here if they have run afoul of the digital nasties and the results are always more than satisfactory. Well, I'm back again with an issue, but I'll save that for  another thread. See you there!  :busy:

New member introduction, browsed this site many times, decided today to join in!

About me: I am old enough to know better and wise enough not to share too much personal info, computer experience goes back to the early 80's with a second career in computer maintenance after learning the construction trade I had chosen had a retirement age of 62 and life expectancy of 58, time for a change!

Anyhow, I have used most operating systems going back to Dos 3.1 through my new system Windows 11, with some exposure to Linux!

Enough about me, thanks for the member acceptance!

Cheers All! :clapping:  :clapping:
