This is not about Mac's running M1 processors. You don't seem to release that is the latest processor. This is about old Mac's 2010 or so that cannot install upgrade to the latest running version of firefox and are forces to run ESR which does not have all the latest features.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-users-macos-1012-1013-1014-moving-to-extended-support

The mozilla document above is not in any way related to Mozilla because as I said a Catalina Mac running on Intel processor is capable of running windows in Bootcamp which allows the latest version of Firefox. But the old Mac OS Catalina and other deprecated operating systems cannot run the latest for some unknown reason.

This makes sense. You have a 2010 Mac which only supports up to High Sierra. On macOS, use Firefox ESR 115 which still receives security updates. Alternatively, you can use Boot Camp, install Windows 7/8.1 depending on your model, and unofficially upgrade to Windows 10. You should be able to run the latest version of Firefox and many other software there. Be sure to make a backup if you go this route

I don't have to check. You have already made the statement that it's high sierra and I cannot update to the latest version only use Fierfox 115 ESR.

That means what I stated is correct. A user with an old mac cannot update to the latest version of software simple because the Mac OS refuses to accept the latest version of software applications and it is not based on the Mac hardware itself.

If you are trying to be pedantic and a troll, I will correct you. It's the app that is incompatible with older versions of macOS not the current way around. You claimed that you can run Windows on that computer and it will work. But Boot Camp only supports Windows 7 or 8.1 on those old Macs. The latest version of Firefox requires Windows 10 so you still need Firefox 15 ESR

Thanks cryptodan for pointing out compis is a troll

Did you not read the title of this post "

Old Mac O.S. apps no longer work

so I already know as you say "It's the app that is incompatible with older versions of macOS" and the compatibility is only due to the Mac OS not running older programs. Again to quote you in your ignorance "High Sierra. On macOS, use Firefox ESR 115" instead of the latest of May-1-2024 of 125.03.

Also you forgot that if I boot the Mac Os hardware with linux it has no problem with running Firefox 125.03 on the outdated Mac OS refuses to run the latest for some reason.

Yes it does anyone that claims to be a network expert and an expert in IT knows there are other ways to get software on supported hardware.

Not using the apple store is one of them because it's common freaking knowledge that you can download stuff directly from the source much like you can do with any linux that has a software center. You can get it there but if you can't then go to the source.

Apple is the downstream user of Firefox getting software from mozilla is upstream much like how mint and ubuntu take software from debian to package into their own repos. Anyone with any knowledge of packaging knows that but as evident in previous posts here and other places you lack knowledge of package maintainers and management.

According to this post they are using the apple store per the image.

No my complaint is not about the O.S. like all other O.S. they eventually go.

But with Apple running a Intel processor the Apple O.S. will refuse to run the latest applications, Even though the Mac hardware has no problem running the application demonstrated by running either Windows or Linux on the same Mac OS hardware.

The diagram shows the message. I have an old version of Firefox 90 and when I try to install the latest I get the below response.

That is not from the Mac App Store. That is Finder letting you know when you launch an app because it checks the deployment target/Mac OS X Minimum Version in the binary itself.

@Chiragroop:-

We know, mate......we know. That's why I often let him run on for a little while, then usually lock his threads. HE knows he's a troll.....and this is - to the best of my knowledge - one of the few remaining forums that hasn't yet banned him outright.

One of these days it WILL happen. I can see it coming.....

Chiragroop, if you are going to ignore me then do not post !!!

Not neing able to provide an answer and taking the time to say "Yeah I have chosen to ignore compis" Means you are trying to tell people what to do.

I am telling people that if you have an old Mac that is running a outdated no longer supported Mac O.S. it will not update apps that can run on the O.S. even though the hardware is fully capapble of running the app.

You can get applications other ways but have you downloaded the file directly from Mozilla.org? I have still yet to see any confirmation that you actually follow advice and instructions.
