FWIW:  There are innumerable guides available re running the sfc /scannow...that are more current than this guide initially prepared over 6 years ago.

 

See SFC /scannow for all the variants that have evolved since this topic/guide was initiated, to include running sfc /scannow on Windows versions developed/released since Feb 2006.
