ChatGPT

Update added to the bottom of the article.

OpenAI's ChatGPT is down for many people worldwide, with users facing multiple problems, including being unable to access their accounts, having their chat history come up empty, and the chat screens not loading properly.

When accessing ChatGPT, users may see a blank screen with "How can I help you today?" and, in some cases, a missing chat history.

Others have told BleepingComputer that they cannot access GPT-4 as the site states that they do not have a ChatGPT Plus subscription, even though they do.

This outage started within the last 10 minutes, and DownDetector, a website that tracks popular services, says ChatGPT is currently experiencing an outage in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Japan, Australia, and other parts of the world.

In a thread on Reddit, several users reported that the UI fails to load correctly, and ChatGPT doesn't work when they try to access the chatbot via web or mobile apps.

It's also worth noting that the global outage affects everyone, including those who have subscribed to ChatGPT Plus.

On the status page, OpenAI hasn't acknowledged the reports yet.

Update 3/25/24 07:12 PM ET: After publishing this story, OpenAI added an issue to its status page stating that it was seeing a high error rate for a small number of requests.

"As of 3:14p pacific we're experiencing a high error rate in ChatGPT for a small percentage of requests. This is impacting users on all ChatGPT plans," reads the status message.

"As of 3:55p pacific we are currently working on deploying a potential fix (ETA ~30mins more)."

At this time, ChatGPT services appear to be restored, with chat histories now displayed and people able to access their account settings.
